A bomb scare prompted the evacuation of a Varanasi-bound IndiGo flight at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport on Monday. The airline said all passengers were safe and the situation was being dealt with.
The airline said in a statement that the flight 6E 509 from Delhi to Varanasi was scheduled to depart at 5:55 pm but was delayed due to a security threat. IndiGo’s 6E-509 from Delhi to Varanasi was delayed because of a security alert. All passengers are safe and the matter is under investigation, the airline said.
The aircraft was evacuated and all passengers were taken to the terminal building. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and other security agencies immediately cordoned off the aircraft after receiving the bomb threat.
The Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was called in to carry out a thorough search of the aircraft. After a detailed search, no explosive device was found on the plane. Authorities are now investigating the source of the bomb scare.
