Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited the Vivekananda Rock Memorial in Kanniyakumari and took part in a sadhana, or meditation, to mark the 125th anniversary of Swami Vivekananda’s famous speech at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in Chicago. He emphasized the need to empower every individual, especially the youth, with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to the country’s growth and development. The Prime Minister also underscored the importance of preserving India’s rich cultural heritage while embracing modernity and progress.
Swami Vivekananda, a key figure in the Indian Renaissance, played a pivotal role in revitalizing Hinduism and promoting the concept of a global village. His famous speech at the Parliament of the World’s Religions in 1893 brought India’s spiritual wisdom to the world stage and continues to inspire people across the globe.
As PM Modi looks towards the future, he envisions a ‘Viksit Bharat’ that embodies the ideals of Swami Vivekananda – a nation that is strong, self-reliant, and inclusive.
